Mouzon-Leroux & Fils

organic, biodynamic

The Mouzon-Leroux family has been growing grapes in Verzy for nine generations, and making wines for four.  they have 7.5 hectares in Verzy and another 2.5 dotted across the Montagne, mostly in metayage.  The estate has been using biodynamic practices since 2008 and currently produces about 7,500 cases annually of superb organic Champagnes.

Sebastian Mouzon’s vineyards lie on the cusp between chalkier and more argillaceous soils, and he is a huge believer in the importance of terroir, vinifying each plot (over 100) separately to bring out its fullest expression, then blending lots to achieve the desired style.
His still Pinot Noir is one of the best examples on the Montagne… unfortunately it’s unavailable as he uses 100% of the production for his rose Champagne
