The three Fioroni brothers Umberto, Amico, and Bernardo were born and raised in the Marche region, where they worked as sharecroppers up until the 1950s. At that time, the farming system in use was the Mezzadria, which dated back to the Middle Ages, and resembled indentured servitude more than a fair labor arrangement.  Because of this, in 1955 the brothers emigrated from Marche to Tuscany, finally arriving in San Gimignano, at Fattoria Poggio Alloro.

The Fioronis worked at Alloro as sharecroppers until 1972, when they were able to purchase the first 25 hectares in 1972, and started growing grapevines, olive trees, various kinds of fruits and vegetables, and cereal crops.  Later on, they built barns for the Chianina cattle as well as pigs, chickens, and rabbits. They also produced saffron, a common and popular spice in San Gimignano since the Middle Ages.  Today, three generations of Fioroni family work the vineyards, the cellars and the farmstead.  All farming is fully organic in the best traditions of respect for the land.  Along with their other produce, the farm produces a Rosso di Toscana, Chianti Classico and of course a Vernaccia di San Gimignano.   The Fioronis also manage the estate as an agriturismo destination, with beautiful rooms and dining alfresco with the towers of San Gimignano in the background.
